This is a fairly large spider, which can reach a leg span of 12-15 cm. It is docile and hardy. The colours can vary from grey to pink or to a reddish brown colour.

It is a nocturnal hunter, which kills its prey using venom. As it can only eat liquid food, it must vomit digestive enzymes on to the food to break the tissue down into a liquid, which it then sucks up using its mouthparts.
