Mangalitza pig

We have recenlty welcomed two Mangalitza piglets to the farm.

The Mangalitza is a woolly pig breed traditionally found in Austria, Germany, Hungry, Romania and Switzerland. In 1993, the breed was almost lost when worldwide total population of sows reportedly fell to fewer than 150. However thanks to the work of a small dedicated breeders, the Mangalitza has been brought back from the brink of extinction.

The Mangalitza pig is known for its thick, curly coat of hair. Which varies throughout the year being thicker in the winter and thinner in the summer months.
