Related to our native Common Buzzard, Redtailed Hawks are solitary ambush predators catching a wide range of small animals such as cottontails and jackrabbits. 

Bosworth, our Red-tailed Hawk, has the red tail of the adult which gives rise to its common name. The juvenile's tail is brown and striped in its first year.
