Oxford Sandy and Black

Oxford Sandy and Black

Oxford Sandy and Black is a hardy but docile pig originating from Oxfordshire, and is one of the oldest pigs native to Britain, having been around for nearly 300 years. The breed  has  neared  extinction  at  least  twice in  history,  but recovered  due  to  the  efforts  of  a  dedicated  breed  association. Named  for  its  colour,  the  Oxford  Sandy  and  Black  is  also sometimes called the ‘Plum Pudding’ or ‘Oxford Forest’ pig, and is related to the Berkshire and Tamworth breed.  They are a dual-purpose pig and are suited to being reared outdoors.
