Bird of Prey Experiences

Experience our birds in action

We run Bird of prey experiences all year round, and they are open to all – this is a wonderful experience for children and adults alike.

We have several experiences available, which all deliver a fun and hands-on interaction with our birds. We believe that the best way to learn about these magnificent creatures is to take part and have a go! Our experiences also make a wonderful gift, and we have a range of options to accommodate all levels of experience -from the curious to the enthusiastic.

Your experience will also include day entry to the Rare Breeds Centre, so you can enjoy all the usual fun at the farm before/or after your falconry experience too.

For all experiences:

  • All participants must be over five years of age (minimum age varies between activity, so please see individual experience for details.)
  • Participants under 15 must be under the supervision of an adult.
  • All free guests are non-participants, but may watch and take photographs.
  • Any other guests need to pay admission on the day of entry.
  • You are welcome to enjoy all the facilities of the farm once your experience has finished.

All experiences are supervised personally by the Head Falconer, Colin Breck Boardman BA, PGCE. Colin is a qualified teacher and has been a falconer since 2002 when he was inspired by 'Falconry and Hawking' by Phillip Glasier. He studied Falconry under Glasier's daughter, Jemima Parry-Jones, at the National Bird of Prey Centre, at Newent, (now the International Bird Of Prey Centre). Colin initiated the Rare Breeds Centre's current Bird of Prey Experiences on his appointment as Head Falconer in 2012.
