More about our work

Canterbury Oast Trust was established in 1985 as a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. It provides a home, 24-hour care, a programme of personal development, work training and work experience for 91 adults with a learning or physical disability in Kent and East Sussex.

In the Trust we believe that people with a disability should have the same opportunities as everyone else to enjoy a rich quality of life, both as individuals and as members of the community. They should have a valued role within their community and deserve opportunities for self- fulfillment and independence.

Much of the work and training done by the Trust brings residents into contact with the general public; this interaction helps to break down barriers and foster a greater understanding of disability.

The Trust runs a range of day services which provide training/occupation for both residents and external placements in Farming, Horticulture, Catering, Arts and Crafts, Woodland Management, Woodland Crafts, Literacy and Numeracy, Information Technology, Music and Dance.
