Great Kent Bike Ride

South of England Rare Breeds Centre

On Sunday 13th June 2010 over 750 cyclists took part in the third Great Kent Bike Ride to raise money for Canterbury Oast Trust.

Participants were able to complete either a 60km or 35km course around beautiful rural Kent in bright sunshine. A large and happy crowd (including a jazz band) gathered to welcome the brave cyclists across the finish line. The ride included a real mixture of people including professional cyclists, families enjoying a fun day out and relatives of our residents.

The Bennett Family and Friends
Our record breaking team for sponsorship is the Bennett family and their friends. The team includes Carl Bennett, Clare Bennett, Matthew Fillery, Nina Jones, Den Jones, Heather Mansell, Becki Lea and Fred Lea. They have kindly supported the farm following the sad loss of their little boy Sammy. In the year of the first Kent Great Bike Ride they raised over £11,000 for the charity, making it possible for us to build "Sammy's Playpen" in memory of Sammy.
