Yonsea Farm A regeneration project, relocating an historic Georgian farm complex in order to save heritage from the impact of the engineering works of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Yonsea Farm was taken down brick by brick and relocated to The Rare Breeds Centre where it has been partly rebuilt. The Oast House at Yonsea is home to our very talented residents,
staff and volunteers of Rainbow Gallery, a dynamic Art and Craft
enterprise with a strong focus on community participation. To view the portfolio or to order your bespoke cards contact Rainbow Gallery on 01233 860093 Unfortunately visitors are currentlly not permitted inside the buildings due to continuing building works |
The History of the Farm The Napoleonic Wars prompted England to design model farms to maximise domestic production against the threat of a French naval blockade. The rebuilt complex will be an education and training centre with public access at no extra cost to visitors to the South of England Rare Breeds Centre. Visitors will learn about English rural history and enjoy the architecture of Georgian times when England was the world leader in agricultural science. The project will be economically sustained by the educational workspace. |
