Woodland Discovery Trails

The Rare Breeds woodland walks are so much fun, follow the quiz trail and see the wonderful wood sculptures as you make your way to the 'Totem Pole' by the Secret Lake.

The changing seasons bring new things to be discovered in the woodlands, Our Bluebell walks in April/May are beautiful, the number and density of the flowers give an impression of a blanket of blue. (well worth a visit)

The fish in our lake like to be fed (summer), so bring along a slice of bread and watch the lake bubble as the fish feed!!

The Secret Lake is an artificial lake, created many years ago by the previous land owner, although the lake is at the top of the hill all of the water from surrounding fields drains into the lake and keeps it topped up all year round.

Over the years the lake has colonised, first with plants and then with insects, some of which, like snails live on the plants. The Secret Lake is full of small fish Rudd and Roach, occasionally Cormorants visit the lake to feed on the fish and you may also see wild ducks and moorhens when you visit.
