Butterfly Tunnel

Walk through Butterfly Tunnel

Walk through our truly amazing butterfly tunnel, take a close look at the underside of leaves as eggs and caterpillars live here, you are able to view the butterfly pupae hanging in special hatching cages. When they develop they are let out to fly freely within a polytunnel, offering our visitors the chance to see them fly, feed and breed.

We home many species of Tropical and British Native butterflies. We use the British Native end of the tunnel to breed British Butterflies, which we are then releasing onto the farm to help establish new colonies.

As a result of the increasing use of pesticides, more intensive farming methods and loss of habitat, many breeds of butterflies that were once a common sight in our countryside are now facing extinction.

(Open May - October)
